Named after the town of Mochima, it is just one of a number of national parks along Venezuela's northeast Caribbean coastline. Created in 1973 it was the second marine park in Venezuela and encompasses the entire shoreline between Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná plus 32 islands just offshore.
The waters around Puerto La Cruz rarely have strong currents. We have many dive sites to choose from: deep and shallow reefs, caverns (can always see the entrance), wrecks, even bubbles and thermal waters! The three different island groups give us varied diving.
Venezuela is still an unknown to many divers, but that only makes it more special. With the waters of the Orinoco River emptying in front of the Island of Trinidad, and west of us a very deep part of the ocean which brings an upwelling of cold water and nutrients, the waters of Mochima National Park are a breeding place for all kinds of fish. Species are still being discovered here!

There are three distinct island groups each a little different from each other: the Chimanas, Borracha and Caracas Island groups besides many smaller individual islands. Spectacular rock formations make diving here very special.
